Recycled jam: the recipe that gives you Christmas gifts (and eliminates fruit waste)

That overripe fruit that is starting to go bad in the basket, the slightly bruised apples, and the pears that “I’ll eat them tomorrow, I promise” but then end up forgotten. This year, instead of wasting still good fruit, we can transform it into a highly appreciated gift: a homemade jam that is worth more than a thousand items bought in a shop. And with the new Thermomix, preparation is very simple

At a time of year when excesses are the order of the day and tables are overflowing with dishes whose leftovers too often end up in the garbage, stopping to reflect on the value of food becomes a revolutionary gesture. Every fruit we throw away represents wasted water, land, energy and work. But there is good news: with a pinch of creativity and the right tools, even fruit that we consider “to be thrown away” can be transformed into something delicious and special.

The recycled jam we are talking about today is exactly this and it is also the perfect gift for those who want to give a little homemade gift to relatives and friends, economical yes but which brings with it all the care and attention that only a gift made with one’s own hands (and with the heart) can convey.

With the new Thermomix TM7 and its integrated Cookidoo platform, which offers over 100,000 recipes for every occasion, preparing this jam truly becomes child’s play.

How to prepare recycled jam with the Thermomix

You don’t need to be a great chef, with Bimby and Cookidoo everything becomes extremely simple: select the recipe directly on the screen and follow the guided steps, without worries.

Following the instructions on the screen, place the Varoma tray and start cooking.

In about 40 minutes at 100°C, Bimby cooks and mixes independently. During this time it is possible to use the Varoma (steam cooking) function of the Bimby to sterilize the jars, optimizing the times while the jam cooks.

After a brief cooling, the recipe includes blending and, if necessary, a few more minutes of cooking to obtain the ideal consistency.

At this point the jam is ready to be poured while still hot into sterilized jars, closed and turned upside down to create a vacuum.

On Cookidoo you can also find many variations, to customize based on the fruit you have at home.

Why choose Thermomix for an anti-waste kitchen

Let’s face it: today more than ever we need tools that help us waste less and enhance every single ingredient that enters our home. The new Bimby TM7 was born with this philosophy.

Make the most of every leftover

With Cookidoo you have access to thousands of creative recipes designed specifically to recover leftovers. Overripe fruit, broth vegetables, leftover legumes: everything can find new life in tasty and nutritious dishes. You no longer need to ask yourself “what do I do with these leftovers?”. Just search on Cookidoo and you will find dozens of solutions.

More health, less waste

Preparing jams, sauces, spreads and kitchen bases directly at home means saying goodbye to packaged products full of preservatives, hidden sugars and useless packaging. With Bimby you can easily self-produce everything you would normally buy at the supermarket, choosing quality and seasonal ingredients.

The advantage? Dramatically reduce plastic packaging and have total control over what you eat. Your jams will be made only with real fruit and the amount of sugar you prefer, without additives or preservatives.

A true ally in the kitchen

The beauty of the Thermomix is that it performs the functions of 20 appliances in one: it chops, mixes, cooks, mixes, ferments and kneads all by itself. For jam, this means that you won’t have to dirty pots, ladles, blenders and so on and so forth. A single mug, a quick cleanup, and you’re done.

Especially during the holidays, when there never seems to be enough time, having such a precious ally in the kitchen really makes the difference.

There’s something magical about giving the gift of food made with your own hands. It is also a way of saying “I thought of you” and then, in an era in which we buy everything with a click and often without thinking too much, receiving a homemade gift is even more pleasant. Especially if accompanied by a personalized label, a natural twine bow and a small handwritten note that tells the story of that jam born from leftovers.
