Swimming in protected glacial lagoons, illegal camps and use of drones: influencer reported for environmental damage

The Spanish Civil Guard has administratively reported a digital content creator six times for carrying out various illegal activities within the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park, a protected territory of great ecological value in the province of Ávila. The infringements were identified thanks to the videos published on his social channels, in which he showed himself engaged in practices prohibited by environmental legislation.

Illegal conduct documented in the videos includes flying drones without authorization in areas of high ecological sensitivity, unauthorized camping in areas under special protection and swimming in glacial lagoons, into which the influencer often dived through breaking ice or from considerable heights. These actions, in addition to violating the law, represent a risk to the balance of fragile ecosystems and can alter the natural behavior of the fauna present.

The impact on the ecosystem

The Sierra de Gredos Regional Park is home to species particularly sensitive to human presence and noise, such as the golden eagle, the Egyptian vulture, the Cabra montés and other cataloged species. Activities such as drone flights, wild camping and swimming in lagoons can interfere with animals’ reproductive cycles, cause stress and contribute to habitat degradation. Compliance with the rules is essential to ensure the conservation of the park’s biodiversity.

The Guardia Civil underlined that any activity in Protected Natural Sites must comply with current legislation and require the necessary authorizations. Collaboration with the Agents of the Environmental Service of the Junta de Castilla y León represents an essential pillar for the monitoring and protection of this natural heritage, ensuring timely interventions in the event of violations.

These episodes highlight how important the responsibility of influencers and content creators is when interacting with sensitive natural environments. The story serves as a warning: the search for online visibility can never justify behavior that damages ecosystems and fauna. Compliance with the rules and protection of the environment must remain absolute priorities.
