Musetti enters the world elite
Musetti’s climb was certified by the final reached in Hong Kong, even if he missed out on the title against Alexander Bublik. However, the Carrarino earned the points necessary to overtake Alex De Minaur and achieve his best career ranking. At 23 years old he thus becomes the third Italian of the modern era to enter the Top 5, after Adriano Panatta and Jannik Sinner, and the fourth overall considering also Nicola Pietrangeli. An achievement that rewards consistency, even more than victories, and which projects him definitively among the protagonists of the circuit.

An increasingly stronger Italy towards the Australian Open
In the week leading up to the Australian Open, Italy is not only celebrating the double placement in the Top 5. There are actually four Italians in the top 30 in the world: in addition to Sinner and Musetti, there are Flavio Cobolli (22) and Luciano Darderi (24), both seeded in the first Slam of the year. A clear signal of the depth of the movement, which is no longer based only on a star but on a truly competitive generation.
Bublik and the other ranking movements
The Hong Kong tournament had another protagonist: Bublik, thanks to his success in the final over Musetti, won his ninth ATP title and above all his debut in the Top 10. Among the most sensational changes there is also that of Hubert Hurkacz, who after a long stop due to injury flies from position 83 to 53 thanks to victories in the United Cup, where he also beat Zverev and Fritz, both Top 10 players.
An effect that goes beyond the pitch
The golden moment of Sinner and Musetti also reflects the success of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, which in 2025 surpassed the Football Federation in terms of revenues, breaking through to 230 million euros. According to Nielsen, racket sports in Italy now have 20 million fans, a figure that explains why today tennis can afford to look football almost in the eye.
