Students who have taken the exams of the filter semester for access to Medicine and Surgery have the opportunity to recover the tests not passed through new exam sessions scheduled between the end of January and February. Of the approximately 10,000 participants, over 7,000 achieved a passing grade in all three disciplines (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).

Each university independently organized the catch-up sessions:
How to prepare for recovery appeals
To best deal with the recovery sessions, students can count on various resources made available by the universities. In addition to online courses and teaching materials uploaded to e-learning platforms, many universities have activated peer tutoring programs that allow first-year students to be supervised by more experienced colleagues. This is an important opportunity to fill any gaps in scientific subjects, especially considering that the tests concern fundamental disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students who have already passed at least one test during the open semester can also request validation of the exams taken in their previous university career, thus speeding up the path towards final enrolment.
Important deadlines
Students who have not passed all three tests have new exams available to comply with the requirements by the end of February. It is essential to keep in mind that January 28th represents a key date: the rankings will become definitive. Immediately afterwards, from 28 to 31 January, the window to apply for related courses, such as Biotechnology or Biological Sciences, will open and close. Those who decide not to continue with Medicine will have until March 6 to enroll in other university courses, benefiting from an extension compared to the normal academic deadlines. This flexibility allows students to explore alternatives without losing the year.
As highlighted by Minister Bernini, this reform represents a significant change: the selection takes place within the university rather than through external tests, and no student will lose the academic year.
