Trevi Fountain, the 2 euro ticket for visitors is available

After the introduction of the ticket for access to the Pantheon which arrived in 2023, the Trevi Fountain also enters the regulated access system. Starting from Monday 2 February, the Municipality of Rome will activate a 2 euro entry ticket for tourists and non-residents, necessary to enter the internal perimeter of the monument.

The measure, announced by the Capitol, aims to manage flows in a more orderly manner and guarantee better protection of one of the symbolic places of the capital.

Free access for residents and exempt categories

The new tariff will not affect the Romans. Residents of Rome and the Metropolitan City will be able to continue to access at no cost by presenting a valid identity document at the controls.

Entrance will also remain free for people with disabilities and their companion, children under 6 years of age and tourist guides, who must show a valid professional card.

After the closing time set at 10pm, the fountain will once again be freely visible to everyone, without limitations.

Times and methods of limited access

The payment of the ticket concerns the limited access to the area overlooking the monumental basin. For tourists and non-residents, entry will be regulated according to these time slots:

On some days the times may be subject to change due to maintenance interventions and/or extraordinary events.

A year of tests and record numbers of visitors

The decision comes at the end of a twelve-month testing phase, from December 2024 to December 2025, during which the Municipality carefully monitored inflows.

In the trial period, the Trevi Fountain exceeded 10 million visitors, with an average of 30 thousand visits per day and peaks reaching 70 thousand visitors.

According to the Capitoline administration, the new system will serve to reduce overcrowding, improve the quality of the visit and guarantee more effective conservation of the monument, also supported by the resources generated by the access fee.

Capitol estimates

The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, had already anticipated the economic impact of the measure at the end of December. With the 2 euro ticket, the Campidoglio expects revenues of approximately 6.5 million euros per year, funds intended for the protection and management of the site.
