After the previews we told you about, the green light is given for the Teacher’s Card for the new school year, with an amount updated to 383 euros – down compared to the previous 500 euros – and can be activated starting from Monday 9 March.
The reduction in the amount must be seen in parallel with a significant expansion of the audience, given that the beneficiaries exceed one million for the first time, with over 200,000 more teachers than last year and 253,000 more than the original audience. Annual substitutes for vacant positions, those with assignments until 30 June and the educational staff of boarding schools and boarding schools now also have access to the Charter – a concrete response to the sentences which from 2021 called for the recipients to be broadened.
The categories of eligible expenditure are also growing: transport services and the purchase of musical instruments are added for the first time to traditional items such as books, training, museums, theater and technology, concretely expanding the possibilities of use for each teacher. To complete the picture, Minister Valditara has allocated an additional 281 million euros – 11 more than the 270 already announced – for teacher training and to equip schools with digital devices, tablets, PCs and teaching aids to be loaned for use by teachers.
