Six weeks, free entry and a color that always looks like a filter in the photos and instead is just lavender. In the municipality of Massarosa, in the province of Lucca, the Lavanda farm opens its gates from Saturday 6 June to Sunday 12 July: the period in which flowering reaches its peak and the rows become a purple expanse between Versilia and Lake Massaciuccoli.

The event is repeated every year and every year it attracts the same varied audience, made up of families, botany enthusiasts, people looking for an hour of fresh air and, of course, the patrol of photographers. For those who live on Instagram, a lavender field at sunset is worth a thousand words, and in fact many come specifically for the shots.
Hours and entrance
The company opens from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 16:00 to 20:00, on Fridays from 9:00 to 12:30 and from 16:00 to 19:00, on Saturdays and Sundays continuously from 9:00 to 20:00. Access is free and free, from via delle Viottole. In addition to the lavender there is also a rose garden, and you can buy home-made artisan products.
The Flower Festival
Flowering, however, does not travel alone. The fields fall within the route de The Path of Herbs and Flowersthe itinerary that crosses a large part of the Massarose area between farms, naturalistic oases and points of interest. The highlight is the Flower Festival, scheduled for two weekends, 20-21 and 27-28 June 2026, promoted by the Versilia Verdelago association. Guided walks on foot and by bike, visits to the lotus flower cultivations, to the Butterfly Garden, dragon boat excursions on Lake Massaciuccoli and tastings in local companies make up a truly extensive program, which according to the organizers is constantly updated.
How to organize the visit
Anyone wishing to plan the day would do well to leave early, because the distances between the various stages are considerable and the stretches are sunny too, so much so that the promoters themselves suggest traveling by car and avoiding the central hours. A hat and a good supply of water are strongly recommended, after all, lavender blooms precisely when the sun is strongest.
