A parade started from Piazza Mastai, which crossed the Tiber to arrive at Piazza Navona: this is how the city of Rome opened the first edition of RIM – Rome in Musicseven days in which the city decides to tell its story through what plays in its neighborhoods. The event, promoted by Roma Capitale, brings the artistic direction of Daniele Silvestri and a precise underlying idea, namely that Roman music is not only on famous stages, but also in schools, associations and groups that animate the Municipalities day by day.

For a week, from 7 to 13 June, concerts, performances, talks and free initiatives will reach all 15 municipalities, from the historic center to the suburbs. Established artists, young talents and amateur musicians will alternate on stage, in what the organizers describe as a cultural map of the city rather than a traditional billboard.
The opening parade and the marching bands
As mentioned at the beginning, the demonstration was inaugurated by the procession that marched from Piazza Mastai towards Piazza Navona. Musicians, students and citizens from each municipality walked together, dragged by the Roman marching bands Samba Precario, Cecafumo and Altrabanda, before crossing the river and arriving in the heart of the city. The musical band of the Local Police Corps of Roma Capitale welcomed the public.
Piazza Navona, open-air studio
For the entire duration of RIM, Piazza Navona transforms into the nerve center of the event, a studio without walls where music and words chase each other. Live radio broadcasts, shared playlists, book presentations and meetings with protagonists of the Italian cultural scene, hosted by Silvestri himself. Among the guests who talk about their journeys are Sergio Cammariere, Tosca, Stefano Fresi and Max Gazzè.
The finale at Schuster Park
The grand finale will be staged at Schuster Park, with a jam session dedicated to the collective dimension of making music. In the afternoon, musicians from the schools collaborating on the project will take to the stage, then in the evening it will be Silvestri’s turn to lead a special set together with established artists and guests from the Roman scene. To close the circle, the encounter with Capitoline rap, in an unprecedented dialogue between styles and generations.
