There is casein, but it doesn’t appear on the label. For this reason, Fiorucci has ordered the withdrawal of a 250 gram batch of Suillo sausages: the allergen, derived from milk, is not declared among the ingredients, and for anyone allergic to milk proteins the omission is no small detail.
The recalled lot
The recall concerns batch 160926LM, in a 250 gram package, with an expiry date of 16 September 2026. The product was made for Fiorucci by Salumificio Scarlino Srl, in the Ugento plant, in the province of Lecce.

What to do if you purchase the product
The indication for anyone who has purchased a pack of that lot is clear: it is better not to consume it. It can be returned to the point of sale, where it will be refunded. For all other consumers, those not allergic to casein, the product is safe.
Because casein is a risk for allergy sufferers
Casein is the main protein in milk, and for those who are allergic, a minimal amount is enough to trigger a reaction. Symptoms range from hives to swelling of the lips and throat, up to more serious cases leading to anaphylactic shock. When an allergen does not appear on the label, those who live with the allergy lose the only tool they have to defend themselves, namely reading the ingredients, hence the need for the recall.
