Very hot days still loom, with the third African anticyclone upon us. According to meteo.it forecasts, the high pressure that has been keeping Europe in check for weeks is preparing to give Italy the third intense heat wave of the season, with temperatures destined to significantly exceed the averages for the period in much of the country.
A summer marked by the African heat
The mass of hot air arriving from the African continent will cause the mercury to rise again, which in the first days of next week could reach up to 40°C and above, as reported by meteo.it. It’s not just the daytime values that are worrying, given that the phenomenon of tropical nights will return, with temperatures never dropping below 25°C. Northern Italy is among the most affected areas.
The forecast day by day
Today, Wednesday 8 July, the picture remains relatively stable: mostly sunny weather, with the risk of afternoon clouds only in the Apennine areas, where some heat storms cannot be ruled out. Temperatures, however, are already rising, with values between 30 and 36°C throughout the country, with peaks of up to 38°C in the Po Valley and in the internal areas of the Centre-South.
Tomorrow, Thursday 9 July, the day will continue under the banner of sunshine, although isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out along the coasts of the Upper Adriatic, on the central-southern Apennines and on the Calabrian mountains; from the afternoon the heat showers could also affect the western Alps, the central Apennines and the southern mountains, with encroachments up to the coasts of lower Lazio, Campania and Tyrrhenian Calabria. The minimums will increase in the Centre-North, while the maximums will remain stable, with

On Friday 10th July the heat will be felt everywhere, from North to South, with an increasingly muggy climate; good weather will dominate from the morning along the coasts and plains of the North, while some episodes of instability could affect the Alps, the northern Apennines and inland areas of the Centre. Record peaks in Sardinia over the weekend
The weekend of 11 and 12 July will be the most intense: in Sardinia the mercury will reach 40°C, the island will be the most exposed to the heat wave. The North will not remain immune, with values higher than normal, even if the heat should be a little more contained thanks to greater atmospheric instability, which will bring rain and thunderstorms back to the Alpine and Apennine areas.
The heat continues and to hope for a respite we will still have to wait, given that high pressure will still be the protagonist for much of next week.
