A wolf spotted in the city center of Riccione: the Municipality closes three parks in the evening and night hours

An unexpected wild presence is mobilizing the authorities of the well-known Romagna seaside resort of Riccione. Following the confirmed sighting of a wolf within the town centre, the mayor Daniela Angelini signed a contingent and urgent ordinance which orders the temporary closure in the evening and at night of three important green lungs of the city.

The provision, which took effect on 19 August and is valid until 3 September 2026, imposes an absolute ban on access and transit from 7pm to 7am within the Resistance park, the Chico Mendes park and the Olivetani park. The measure was agreed with the regional wildlife service, whose formal request started the operational procedures necessary for the safety of citizens and the management of the animal.

The perimeter of the prohibitions and the continuity of the Cinema in the park

The ban on the parks was planned to allow experts from the regional wildlife service to carry out interventions aimed at removing the canid in the absence of people. The restrictions follow well-defined perimeters: in the Chico Mendes park the ban concerns the green belt between the Rio Melo, State Road 16 near the Roman Bridge and the homes adjacent to the Study Center.

In the Olivetani park, the block concerns the area between the amphitheater and the cemetery, delimited by Viale Einaudi and the Rio Melo, as well as the sector between State Road 16, the old cemetery and the canal. In the Resistance park, transit is prohibited everywhere, except in the space in front of the basketball court and the nearby farmhouse on Viale Montebianco. However, the Cinema in the park exhibition hosted at the Olivetani does not suffer any stoppage, as it is set up in a delimited and completely fenced area.

Prevention rules for citizens and sanctions for violators

While the authorities continue to monitor other points in the municipal area where sightings have been reported, the administration led by Daniela Angelini has released a precise behavioral handbook for residents.

It is recommended to strictly avoid abandoning organic waste outside the bins, not to leave food for pets in gardens or on public land, to look after your pets with particular care and to clean uncultivated vegetation close to homes. Compliance with the access bans in the three perimeter green areas will be strictly enforced: administrative fines ranging from a minimum of 25 euros up to a maximum of 500 euros are foreseen for anyone who violates the provisions of the ordinance.
