A batch of plastic plates ends up on the food recall list due to a problem that directly concerns contact with food, i.e. the migration of substances beyond the permitted limits. The Ministry of Health warns consumers through the portal dedicated to food safety alerts.
The recalled product
The recall affects 22cm white plastic soup plates, sold under the 4EMME brand in packs of 15 pieces, with the words “Super resistant and reusable”. The production batch to be checked is FO-17.07.26, while the barcode shown on the package is 8007570031696. The plates are produced by the Turkish company Zebra Plastik, which exports them to Italy on behalf of 4EMME Srls, based in via Mazzini 2 in Somma Lombardo, in the province of Varese, importer and distributor of the product.

Why was the recall triggered?
The notice, dated September 4 but released by the Ministry only the following day, speaks of a possible global migration beyond the permitted limit in tableware from Turkey. In essence, it is the overall quantity of substances that a plastic material can release to food or a liquid with which it comes into contact: a parameter that EU Regulation 10/2011 sets precisely to prevent additives or plastic residues from ending up in food. The general limit for plastic materials in contact with food is 60 milligrams per kilo of food, and in the case of 4EMME plates this threshold would not have been respected.
What to do if you have these plates
The indications of the recall distinguish two recipients. Consumers are asked not to use dishes from the indicated batch; to traders, not to sell them and to promptly notify anyone who has already purchased them. Anyone who has a package with batch FO-17.07.26 at home can return it to the point of sale, following the instructions on the official Ministry sheet.
