In the world of electric carssome car manufacturers are competing for the forefront of the market, aware that they represent the future of mobility. In European important deadline is now upon us: the European Parliament aims to ban the sale of combustion cars by 2035. In this context, Aptera Motorsa San Diego company, recently completed the P12, a car that can recharge itself thanks to solar technology, revolutionizing the concept of electric mobility. Let’s discover in detail this innovation which promises to become a new standard for sustainable cars.
There P12 by Aptera is a solar car designed to capture solar energy thanks to panels installed on the roof, capable of generating up to 700 watts of energy, guaranteeing a daily autonomy of approximately 64 km in ideal sun exposure conditions. Aptera P12 is positioned as an advanced ecological solution, much more accessible than other similar models on the market, such as the LightYear. This model, in addition to eliminating the need for frequent charging, aims to resolve one of the main limitations of electric cars: the lack of charging infrastructure.
Technical characteristics of the Aptera P12: lightness and aerodynamics to maximize efficiency
In addition to solar charging, the P12 boasts a low weight of 816 kg and optimized aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of just 0.13, lower than the Tesla Model S (0.24). The 150 kW motor delivers a torque of 310 Nm, while the overall autonomy, by combining additional batteries, can reach 1,600 km.
On days of weak or absent sunshine, the P12 can also be recharged at traditional charging stations, thus offering a greater versatility. With three wheels and a carbon fiber structure, the P12 is designed to be a durable yet extremely lightweight vehicle. Aptera has also taken care of the interior, adopting a minimalist style to further reduce weight and energy consumption.
With a top speed of 162 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h in less than four seconds, the P12 is positioned as a remarkable performance car. The price of the first launch edition starts at around €33,943, with more advanced models reaching €47,246.
