Because Hyundai is recalling more than 200 thousand SUVs from the market

The reason why Hyundai is recalling more than 226,000 SUVs and small cars from the market would be due to a defect in the rear cameras. The recall affects the US market.

This is what the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration declared in recent hours, specifying what it is about.

The problem is caused by solder joints on a printed circuit board, it says, which can develop cracks. As these cracks worsen over time, it can lead to failure of rearview images to appear. The lack of imaging reduces visibility for the driver, which can increase the risk of injury to pedestrians, the documents say.

The recall concerns some Santa Fe SUVs and Elantra sedans of the 2021-2022 model year.

According to the NHTSA, dealers will replace the cameras at no cost to owners, who will be notified via letters starting January 19.
