A new recall campaign involves the popular Dacia Duster SUV, one of the best-selling models in Europe and Italy. The alarm was triggered due to a defect in the position sensor of the assisted parking brake (APB) actuator, which could compromise driving safety.
According to information released by the European authorities and also implemented by the Italian market, the defect concerns vehicles produced between 13 March 2024 and 26 February 2025, with serial numbers between and192007/46002610pm and 7pm2007/46002626.
The anomaly is due to an incorrect mounting angle of the position sensor, an apparently minimal error which however can alter the precision of the automatic braking system. In particular conditions, this could increase the risk of an accident or temporary loss of control of the vehicle, even if the assisted parking brake remains operational and able to stop the car.
What owners of vehicles involved in the manufacturing defect should do
The Dacia Duster recall is also active in Italy, where the manufacturer has started the free verification campaign for all owners of the affected vehicles.
Anyone who owns a Duster registered in the period indicated can easily check if their vehicle is affected by visiting the official “Recall campaigns” page of the Dacia Italia website and entering the chassis number (VIN) of the vehicle. Alternatively, you can contact your trusted Dacia workshop or dealership, which will verify the presence of the defect and schedule the corrective intervention at no cost to the customer.
The operation, completely free of charge, consists of checking and, if necessary, replacing or adjusting the parking brake position sensor. This is a mandatory safety check that requires a short-term intervention, but which can prevent potentially serious risk situations.
The Italian authorities have classified the defect as a safety problem due to the potential possibility of accidents or injuries resulting from abnormal functioning of the system. Even if the brake continues to guarantee the stability of the vehicle, the manufacturer recommends not postponing the intervention and proceeding with the check as soon as possible.
The recall campaign should not cause alarm, but is a preventive action aimed at protecting owners and road safety. Dacia confirms that, once the defect has been resolved, the vehicle will be completely safe and compliant with European approval standards.
The brand also reminds you that all safety-related recalls are free, regardless of the age of the vehicle or the expiration of the warranty.
