On January 6th the Epiphany (event) is celebrated with the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem, guided by the comet star. The Three Kings, in the Gospels, bring the Baby Jesus gold, incense and myrrh, three gifts with a strong symbolic value.
The gold, donated by Melchior, represents the kingship of Jesus, the incense, offered by Gaspar, represents the divine priesthood of Jesus, and finally the myrrh, donated by Belshazzar, symbolizes Jesus’ encounter with death.
To welcome this important day, which closes the holiday period, in the best possible way, we offer you some DIY decorations themed.
Garland of the Three Kings
Draw the silhouettes of the Three Wise Men and their animals (elephant, camel and horse) e of the comet star on sheets of white cardboard. Paint each figure and cut it out with scissors. Make two small holes above and below the various figures so that you can insert the wire and join them, giving shape to the garland.
Crowns of the Three Kings
You can make them with raw cardboard, cutting out the different parts and assembling them with hot glue. The wreaths can be hung from the ceiling using ribbons or strings.
Or recycle old toilet paper rolls, paint them with gold and silver acrylics, cut out the tips and add a cascade of glitter. You can use the crowns as centerpieces.
Three Kings
The Three Kings with toilet paper rolls are also cute: just cover the rolls with paper decorated in shades of gold, leaving the upper part free, where the eyes and nose will be drawn. Use white paper to create a beard and hair and glue them around the rolls. Add a cardboard crown on top of each roll.
Comet star
If you want to make the comet, get a cardboard box, a cutter, a pencil and some red or yellow tempera.
Befana Brooms
But how beautiful are these Befana brooms with dried herbs and flowers?! To make them you need a branch for the handle, a bunch of dried flowers, some string and colored satin ribbon. Wrap the flowers and herbs around the handle with twine and wrap the satin ribbon over the flowers.
