Lidl’s Deluxe milk chocolate Easter egg with whole hazelnuts had already caused a lot of talk in recent years, conquering the shelves and hearts of fans of Easter sweets at affordable prices. One of those surprises from discounters capable of challenging the famous brands and transforming themselves into a permanent fixture year after year.
But among the most loyal customers a request came back punctually every year: why not also a dark chocolate version? For Easter 2026, Lidl has finally listened to them.
From March 23rd the new Deluxe egg with dark chocolate and whole hazelnuts is officially available, produced – as per tradition for this line – by La Suissa, a historic confectionery company.
There is a lot of enthusiasm for the new product, but there was no shortage of first comments on social media and in the groups dedicated to Lidl purchases. The sore point concerns the percentage of cocoa: 52%, a threshold that many fans of real dark chocolate consider a little too low.
Those expecting an intense and bitter chocolate, with at least 60-70% cocoa, might be slightly disappointed. It is in fact a soft and accessible dark chocolate, closer to the taste of a “supermarket” chocolate than to a real dark chocolate for connoisseurs. Having said that, for the target of the product – and for those who want to use it as an Easter gift – it still remains a quality choice, especially considering the quantity of hazelnuts.
The format is the same as the tested milk version: 350 grams, with 40% of whole hazelnuts which characterizes this line.
How much does Lidl’s dark chocolate and whole hazelnut egg cost
In a year in which the cost of chocolate eggs has reached record levels, the list price stands at 8.49 euros. A competitive figure, especially considering the weight and quality of the declared raw material. Those who visited the stores in the first few days even reported finding it discounted at 7.99 euros in some locations.

The white Deluxe with pistachio is also back
Keeping the dark new entry company is another much-loved proposal: this week the Deluxe white chocolate and pistachio egg is also back on the shelves, already acclaimed last year as one of the most popular Easter products. Same format, 350 grams, price 8.99 euros.
In short, for those who want to put something different than usual in their Easter basket, this year Lidl is offering various alternatives and at prices which, considering the market context, remain difficult to beat.
