Facebook down, thousands of reports: what is happening to the Meta platforms

A technical malfunction is affecting the main platforms of the Meta group. Throughout the day, numerous users reported difficulties using Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, with problems logging in, loading content and sending messages.

Outages on multiple services at the same time

The reports concern various features of the platforms. On Facebook, many users complain about pages that don’t load or are particularly slow, especially in the desktop version. Instagram presents anomalies in updating the feed and viewing content, while on WhatsApp there are difficulties in sending and receiving messages.

The simultaneous involvement of multiple services suggests a technical problem at Meta’s infrastructure level, even if at the moment no official communications have been provided on the causes of the outage.

Peak of reports

Portals specialized in monitoring online services have recorded a sharp increase in reports in the last few hours. Thousands of users have reported operational problems, helping to highlight the extent of the downside on an international scale.

In some cases, the high traffic generated by the search for information on the outage has also made it more difficult to consult the pages dedicated to monitoring anomalies.

Waiting for clarification from Meta

It is currently unknown when the situation will fully return to normal. The company’s technicians are presumably working to identify the source of the problem and restore the correct functioning of the services.

Further updates are expected in the next few hours, when Meta could provide official information on the causes of the downtime and the time needed to resolve the incident.
