From London to Barcelona, from Chicago to Rome, the great (and small) masterpieces of classical art are leaving museums to be displayed in the open air. Taking them to the streets is the artist and director Julien de Casabianca, who in 2015 launched a truly original artistic project.
Casabianca photographs the protagonists of works of art kept in museums, prints them and glues the reproductions (in giant format) onto the buildings of the world’s metropolises. The goal? Making art accessible to all, while redeveloping degraded urban spaces.

The innovative urban art project, called “Outings project”, has expanded year after year, spreading to many cities, also because it involves all of us personally, inviting us to imitate Casabianca’s work. And therefore to photograph the works kept in museums, to print the protagonists and to stick them on the walls of the cities.

After installing the images outdoors, the artist photographs them and the shots in turn become works of art, sold in limited editions or exhibited in exhibitions. And there are several museums that have joined the initiative, inviting visitors to participate in the project.

An unusual and truly participatory idea.
