How to decorate the Christmas table with ribbons: 5 elegant and original DIY ideas

The table is the absolute protagonist of the Christmas lunch and must therefore be taken care of down to the smallest details. Among the must haves we remember the centrepiece, a beautiful tablecloth, matching glasses, plates and cutlery, and maybe even themed place cards. If you then want to give the whole thing a touch of originality and elegance, we suggest you focus on satin and velvet ribbons. Here are some DIY ideas to insert them in the right way.

Centerpiece with candles and ribbons

Still unsure about the centerpiece? You can never go wrong with candles and if you want to make them even more chic, we suggest tying red satin ribbons around the candlesticks, positioned in the center of the table.

If you don’t want to use velvet, satin ribbon works well too. Simply cut pieces of varying length, in a color that matches the table, and tie them around the top of the candlesticks.

Napkin ribbons

Instead of the classic napkin holders, use i satin or velvet ribbons: tie them around the napkins making a nice bow. Choose ribbons in a color that aligns with the rest of the table.

You can also add a natural detail, such as a sprig of rosemary or pine.

Ribbons around the plates

Why not “pack” the dishes? A satin ribbon tied around the appetizer plate will give the table a touch of timeless elegance.

Ribbons around the glasses

The same thing can be done with glasses, but in this case it is better to focus on thinner ribbons. Cut them all to the same length, tie them around the glasses and close with a nice bow.

Ribbons around the table

If you want to exaggerate, here’s the idea that doesn’t go unnoticed: start some long satin ribbons from the ceiling and pull them towards the corners of the table, fixing them with a nice bow.
