When local stalls remain unused, artists give them new life. And that’s exactly what he did the residency and artistic production project The Art Marketwhich for a few days transformed the Trullo Market in Rome into an unprecedented open-air creative laboratory.
There are inactive boxes lit up with a new light, becoming vital spaces in which relationships, exchanges and meetings between artists, the public and traders were born. In short, new meeting places, surprising and very lively.
The project, of a biennial nature and with the artistic direction of Alessandra Muschella, in this first edition saw the participation of Linda Pennacchia, Alessandro Fornaci, Solo and Diamond, Er Pinto, Daniele Tozzi and Kenji De Angeli. Their studios, set up inside the market stalls, have remained open since 10 to 29 November 2025, culminating in a final evening that brought together curious people, inhabitants and enthusiasts.
We have moved from photography to urban art, from poetry to installations: living, constantly evolving works that are nourished by the contribution of the township. In fact, the inhabitants were invited to bring images, objects, memories, testimonies: fragments of daily life that enriched the works and rooted them even more in the territory.
The artists were selected through a public call, which chose the proposals most capable of enhancing the narrative, historical and symbolic fabric of the Trullo. Director Muschella has already anticipated that next year’s call will be published around 20 September, particularly encouraging contextual and procedural approaches, capable of activating an authentic dialogue with local communities and proximity spaces. Furthermore, great attention will be dedicated to projects that experiment with material and community-specific practices.
Thanks to the support of Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, the Art Market has transformed a historic market into a crossroads of memories, visions and daily life, giving the neighborhood a new and deeply shared energy.
