Let’s save Rillette, the domestic boar at risk of being killed across the Alps (petition)

He was recovered in a bad state in April 2023 in the Aube of French Champagne and since then he has never been separated from the person who rescued him. Despite not harming anyone, a named female boar may be euthanized.

Rillette, as it was called, risks being killed because it is a wild specimen, kept as a pet. The requests presented to the prefecture by Elodie Cappé, its owner, were of no avail. The woman immediately took action to obtain authorization to take custody of Rillette, but those requests were rejected three times.

Now the threat of euthanasia has followed if the ungulate is not relocated to a specialized park. Incredulous, Elodie Cappé told Rillette’s story through social media and information channels to denounce the absurd situation she is going through. He has no intention of saying goodbye to Rillette, but he can’t resign himself to the idea that his life is in danger.

For her, Rillette is “a member of the family”, not a wild boar and she is ready to do everything possible to ensure the worst does not happen. Various animal protection associations, including the foundation 30 Millions d’Amisexpressed solidarity with the woman, protesting against this injustice.

Also the voice of Brigitte Bardot she rose to the aid of Rillette and her adoptive family. The French actress and activist has launched an appeal to ask the Aube prefecture to spare Rillette. Several petitions have been started to support this fight and save Rillette.

It’s a story that seems to repeat itself, a script we already know. Also in France, another wild boar named Maurice was threatened with euthanization because he was adopted as a puppy by two gentlemen when he wandered injured on their land.

The case raised outrage among the French, who expressed their disappointment by showing support for Maurice and his family. The judges of Tulle then put an end to this matter, saving the ungulate from an extremely excessive sentence.

Will the same happen to Rillette? This is what those who anxiously follow the fate of this animal, which with its history has won the hearts of many, hope for. You can sign the petition HERE.
