An insect inside a package triggered the recall of an entire batch. This is what happened to the Neogal brand High Protein Feta Dop cubes, which the Basko supermarket chain recalled as a precaution after the manufacturer’s communication. The origin of the measure is the report of a control body, which found the presence of an insect inside a package. A physical contamination which, although affecting a single unit, triggers the obligation to recall it, because it is not possible to exclude that the problem also affects other packages of the same lot.
The recalled lot
The product involved is sold in 150 gram jars and can be recognized by the batch number FE1140275, with a minimum shelf life (TMC) set for 19 May 2027. The product code 424954.01 and the Ean barcode 5202082002681 also appear on the packaging. The Feta is produced by the Greek Neogal SA, in the Drama plant (identification mark GR 10.2.856 EC), and distributed in Italy by Neogal Italia, with headquarters in via A. Gatti 17/5, in Borgo San Lorenzo, in the metropolitan city of Florence.

What to do in case of purchase
Anyone who has purchased a package with the lot and expiry date indicated is invited not to consume it and to return it to the point of purchase, where they will receive a refund or replacement. For food recalls there is no need to keep the receipt: the identification of the batch is sufficient. Other packages of the same reference, with different batch numbers and expiry dates, remain outside the measure.
At the moment, the notice has only been disseminated through the recalls section of the Basko website; no communication relating to this batch appears on the Ministry of Health portal.
