Nutcracker-themed Christmas table: from DIY place cards to centerpieces, the atmosphere is (truly) fairytale-like

From place cards to centrepieces, from napkin rings to decorative biscuits, the Nutcracker themed Christmas table it’s the most fairytale-like thing you can imagine. You don’t need to have many of them because, thanks to DIY, you can very well make them with your own hands using recycled materials. Take inspiration from this imaginative selection of decorative ideas.

Placeholder

Let’s start with i Nutcracker-shaped placeholder: no problem if you don’t have enough or if you only have some larger ones, we can DIY them in just a few steps.

There are several possibilities: you can print the drawing of the nutcracker on a piece of cardboard, cut it out and glue a card with the guest’s name on it, drawing two little hands supporting it next to it, as in the example.

Printed placemats

Another nice idea is to make placemats to place under the plates and cutlery, one for each guest. Select some nutcracker drawings and print them on an A3 sheet of cardboard, then laminate it.

Ice cream sticks are also perfect for making original napkin rings.

Follow the instructions in the following tutorial step by step and make a number of nutcrackers equal to the number of guests.

Glue an elastic band to the back of each one, so that you can insert the napkin.

DIY nutcracker centerpiece

If you have wooden nutcrackers you can place them in the center of the table surrounding them with sprigs of pine, fir, berries and other Christmas elements. If you only have one, focus on creative recycling.

Recovering a tube of Pringles and other thinner tubes goes a long way towards creating a personalized nutcracker.

First you need to give shape to the body by gluing the thinner tubes on the sides of the main tube and on the part underneath. Wooden balls are added for the hands and miniature clogs for the feet. All that remains is to decorate the nutcracker by painting the various parts, including the face.
