Prepare tacos by cooking a frozen iguana that fell from a tree in Florida (also killing 20 eggs): the shocking video

In Florida, a viral video on TikTok has sparked outrage among millions of users. Gray Davis collected frozen iguanas, which had fallen from trees during a cold spell, and cooked them by placing them as “seasoning” inside tacos, showing the preparation step by step.

The shocking ecological excuse

The affair, presented as an act of “sustainability”, has attracted very harsh criticism: the idea of transforming recently dormant animals (and be careful not dead ones) into food is disgusting and cruel. Iguanas may in fact appear deceased, but in reality they are alive and are in a hybridized condition and will return to their normal conditions as soon as it gets warmer.

Davis defended his choice by arguing that iguanas are an invasive species and that removing one would help control their population. He strengthened his theory by also making it known, without any hesitation, that he had found 20 eggs inside, thus preventing the birth of another 20 iguanas.

He also claimed that they taste like chicken and are really delicious so “wasting” them would be a shame. However, public opinion was quick to reject the argument: the act of killing and cooking an animal, and using eggs in sauce, is repugnant and morally unacceptable.

The preparation of tacos: horror for the senses

The videos show Davis cooking the meat with onion, garlic, bay leaves and salt, while the iguana eggs are boiled and blended with avocado and lime for a sauce. Finally he placed the cooked meat in a pan with his favorite seasonings and let it crisp up before adding it to the tacos, commenting ironically: “If you can’t beat them, eat them”.

Outrage on social media

A gesture that many have defined as irresponsible and shocking, especially considering the fact that it did not kill just one iguana but 21 specimens. A user commented, expressing all his shock:

Sorry, but I can’t follow you when you say to blend 20 iguana eggs in a blender to immerse the mother’s body in it.

Although Davis tries to justify himself with ecological and ethical reasons, the vast majority of users firmly condemn the episode. The practice of cooking freshly stunned animals for fun or notoriety on social media cannot be defined in any other way than an act of cruelty towards animals, totally contrary to any principle of respect for life.

The message that must pass is one and only one: this is not an “experiment” to be replicated. Certain practices are unacceptable, disgusting and to be avoided absolutely, without exceptions. Respect for animal life cannot be bent for a handful of likes and to go viral at all costs.
