In a wild animal recovery center every day represents a challenge between reports, interventions and treatments to be administered to the facility’s guests. Some rescues, however, however unpredictable, seem to be written by fate.
The Rifugio Matildico, CRAS of Reggiano, is well aware of this and operates 24 hours a day to rescue injured or endangered wildlife. Recently, the staff carried out yet another rescue. While driving on a rough road, some shelter members encountered an animal that was clearly in difficulty and
Right before their eyes a roe deer lay motionless. At the sight of the vehicle, the wild animal did not move even an inch or try to escape. He needed more than a helping hand and he got it.
Once the car stopped, one of the operators immediately took action to recover the roe deer following the intervention procedure. Two of them then picked him up, placed him on a cloth and transported him to the center to be able to undergo tests.
Rifugio Matildico shared the video of the rescue on its social channels, moving users. As the shelter hypothesizes, in all likelihood the animal had fallen off a cliff and suffered injuries.

Many, worried about the fate of the capriole, asked for updates in the comments waiting for news. The thanks given to the shelter operators cannot be counted. Someone called them “angels on Earth” because they were truly providential with their timely help.
That poor deer could have met anyone on that stretch of road in the snow, but he was lucky enough to find the volunteers of a CRAS in front of him. These situations are even more evident the invaluable work of wild animal recovery centers and the invaluable contribution in safeguarding our fauna.
