Segrate’s “Banksy of the Segrate” secretly decorates the trees with colorful works (and now the mayor is looking for it)

In Segrate, in the Milanese hinterland, the trees that surround the Giuseppe Verdi civic center have become real urban television for a few months. During the night, an anonymous artist covers the trunks with colorful crochet creations, leaving behind a sign of fantasy and beauty. Citizenship has already renamed the “Banksy of Segrate”, a name that combines the spirit of Street Art with the originality of Yarn Bombing.

The phenomenon of Yarn Bombing is widespread internationally, but in Segrate represents an absolute novelty. A new work appears every two weeks: a rhythm that feeds the wait for citizens and makes walks near the Civic Center a surprising experience. Some works recall the geometric colors of Piet Mondrian, others are inspired by Keith Haring’s stylized figures, without forgetting the literary tributes to the Harry Potter saga. The installations transform the urban landscape into a small open -air gallery, giving smiles and curiosities to passers -by.

The mayor’s appeal to trace the artist

The first citizen, Paolo Micheli, expressed his appreciation with a post on social media, hoping to be able to know the artist’s identity soon:

We are looking for the anonymous or anonymous ‘Banksy Segratese’ To congratulate him or with her for this street art initiative, known as Yarn Bombing, which gives color in the center of our city.

The mayor himself then added a personal request: he would like to buy one of these works to export it home. In the meantime, citizens’ comments on Facebook show enthusiasm and gratitude. The works are defined as “wonderful” and “wonderful”, while there are those who fear can be removed from little respectful hands.

The mysterious author – or author – acts at night, without ever being seen, feeding the charm of anonymity. But if the face remains hidden, the message is clear: bring color, joy and participation in the city. In an era in which the public space is often gray and anonymous, the Banksy of Segrate is demonstrating how even a simple wool thread can turn into a gesture of shared art, capable of making the inhabitants dialogue and awakening the gaze of those who cross the roads every day.
