Our good old fast fashion app Temu again under the magnifying glass and this time at the center of an investigation on cybersecurity. It is the National Cybersecurity Testing Institute (NTC) that highlights some technical anomalies which, if confirmed, could put user safety at risk.
Among the main points raised by the NTC analysis would be dynamic code loading and further encryption. However, the Institute downplays, there would be neither critical security risks nor reliable evidence of unauthorized surveillance activity.

Additionally, Temu uses advanced levels of encryption. While these can increase data protection, they could also hide any unwanted transmissions, raising questions about the transparency of the app’s operations, the report said.

- update your device regularly to reduce vulnerability
- limit permissions granted to the app, granting only those strictly necessary
- monitor data traffic to identify any suspicious activity
Ultimately what do we think? That it’s not worth the risk. We know well that the products we find for sale on this app are cheap simply because they are of poor quality and hide heavy environmental impacts as well as exploitation of workers.
