Plastic in the kitchen is everywhere, often without us realizing it. In air fryers, which have multiplied on worktops all over the world in recent years, it is still the norm: ABS bodies, baskets lined with materials that raise more than a few doubts, surfaces that do not last as long as they should. Cosori Iconic starts from a different question: what if we could do without almost all that plastic?
Cosori Iconic Single 6.2 Liter Air Fryer, Smart Stainless Steel, PFAS Free Ceramic Coating, 5 Year Limited Warranty, DC Motor, 5 Automatic Fan Speeds
A steel casing, not for aesthetics
The first element that distinguishes the Iconic from other models on the market is structural. The external body is made of brushed stainless steel, with a tempered glass control panel. Cosori declares that 96% of the visible surface of the device is made of metal — a percentage calculated by the manufacturer excluding the power cable, the tempered glass panel and the internal components, but which still gives an idea of the direction taken. This is not an aesthetic detail: steel ages better than plastic, it does not yellow, it does not scratch as easily and it does not release anything in contact with heat.

The result can be seen and heard, given that the appliance weighs 6.4 kg and occupies 37.7 × 30 × 29.5 cm on the work surface. It’s not light, but it inspires a solidity that mid-range models rarely convey.
PFAS-free ceramic: what it really means
The inner basket has a non-stick ceramic coating free of PFAS – an acronym that indicates a family of fluorinated chemicals known as “eternal pollutants”. These molecules have been the focus of increasing scientific and regulatory attention in recent years due to their persistence in the environment and the human body. The presence of nonstick coatings in cookware is one of the reasons why many consumers look askance at low-end air fryers.
A PFAS-free ceramic coating does not solve every problem – it requires care, it must be protected from impacts and metal tools – but it eliminates that category of risk at its root. The crispy basket and plate are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning less laborious than you might expect after cooking with fatty foods.
The DC motor and the six cooking functions
In terms of performance, the Iconic features a five-speed DC motor, which is different from the AC motors found on most air fryers. The practical difference is in the precision of the air flow: the DC motor can vary the speed gradually, adapting it to the type of cooking. The declared result – and confirmed by those who have tested the appliance – is more uniform cooking and, above all, quieter operation.

There are six cooking functions: Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Proof and Reheat. The temperature range is from 30 to 230°C, with a timer that goes up to 24 hours. The Proof function – for leavening dough – is the most surprising, because it requires low and stable temperatures that a traditional oven struggles to maintain precisely. The capacity of the basket is 6.2 litres, suitable for three to five people.
Apps and connectivity: useful, not essential
The Iconic connects to the VeSync app, available for Android and iOS, which allows you to access recipes with nutritional information, monitor cooking and customize programs. The remote start feature isn’t available for security reasons — a limitation that, when you think about it, makes sense. The app adds value for those who want to explore less conventional cooking, but the appliance works perfectly without it.
Duration and guarantee
Cosori covers the Iconic with a five-year warranty, which says something about the product’s durability ambitions. The list price is 249 euros, it is not an air fryer for those looking for the cheapest model, but rather an appliance designed to last, built with materials that do not require replacement after a few years of daily use.
In a market where the air fryer is often a disposable and short-lived object, choosing a metal appliance with a PFAS-free ceramic coating is also a more conscious consumer choice. It doesn’t solve all the problems of plastic in the kitchen, but it’s a step in the right direction.
