According to the latest Altroconsumo test, the detergent that works best on the most stubborn dirt is Dash Power Extra-Sanitary. Surprisingly, however, he does not occupy first place in the general ranking. The contradiction is only apparent, because a detergent can give its best against difficult dirt and then give way to a competitor when it comes to protecting the white, or stopping the graying of garments. The consumer association wanted to understand which product washes better, erases the most stubborn stains and keeps fabrics in good condition for longer. For this reason he compared different laundry detergents, with one eye on general performance and the other on some specific characteristics. A curious fact emerged: the most complete product is not necessarily the one that dominates every single test.
Dash Power Extra-Sanitizing, the most effective against stains
The Dash Power Extra-Sanitizing, in the pack of 20 doses, stops at 63 points out of 100 in the overall rating and therefore remains behind the overall winner. The music changes in the tests dedicated to stain removal, where it achieved the best results.

It held up to different types of dirt. There are enzymatic stains, such as starch and food residues, and greasy ones left by mineral oil, lipstick and mayonnaise. The top step in the general ranking goes to Carrefour Eco Planet Lavatrice Mughetto e Lavanda, a supermarket brand liquid detergent in a 30-wash format. With 74 points out of 100 it obtained the highest score of all the products analyzed. Its strength lies in balance. Rather than excelling in just one category, it offers good performance across the board, which is why it lends itself well to everyday laundry. If you are looking for a single detergent to use in the majority of washes, without particular needs such as very stubborn stains or exclusively white items, the test indicates it as the most complete choice.
For the white garments, Esselunga wins
For those who mainly put shirts, sheets and white items in the washing machine, the data to be recorded bears the signature of Esselunga Per Chi Ama la Natura Caps Lavatrice, first in the test on maintaining the whiteness of fabrics. The overall rating, stuck at 54 points out of 100, however places it below Carrefour Eco Planet. It is yet another proof that a product can excel in a single characteristic without being the most complete of all. If the priority is the brilliance of whites, it can still serve as a targeted choice.
R5 Tabs, the most effective against greying
Wash after wash, certain fabrics lose brightness and take on a dull appearance. Altroconsumo also measured this, that is, the ability of detergents to combat greying. In this test the best result is called R5 Tabs Lavatrice, in the 30 dose format. In the overall rating it does not go beyond 53 points out of 100, but it stood out in the specific test on the preservation of the original appearance of the fabrics. It must be said that graying does not depend only on detergent. The way you divide the clothes before washing is also very important. Mixing dark, colored and light colors can help the transition of color from one fabric to another and dull the whites.
Liquid, capsules or tabs: which format to choose
Judging from the test, no format automatically benefits. In fact, among the best products there coexist a liquid such as Carrefour Eco Planet, the capsules of Esselunga Per Chi Ama la Natura and the tabs of R5. The real difference, it seems, lies in the formulation and the objective for which a product is chosen.
