The world is full of festivals dedicated to mushrooms, but we assure you that the “Telluride Mushroom Festival“, celebrated every year in the city of Telluride, Colorado, is one of a kind.
Some of the activities proposed during the event, which lasts five days, are perfectly normal, such as excursions in the local woods aimed at collecting and identifying mushrooms, food workshops, scientific conferences involving internationally renowned mycologists.
What distinguishes this festival from all the others is rather the final paradeduring which the participants parade along “Main Street” showing off very particular mushroom-shaped costumes. One more bizarre than the other. All accompanied by music, dancing and a wild drum circle.
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the magical atmosphere of this decidedly psychedelic festival?! So let’s start with the great classics: the Amanita Muscaria, by far the most eye-catching mushroom in the forest.
