The campaign, already successfully carried out last year during the club’s stay in the Second Division, allowed for find a family for eleven dogs and to collect over two tons of food and shelter materials. This year, Espanyol has decided to replicate the initiative to continue giving voice to a social issue of great importance.
He also promoted collections of blankets, towels and pet food
The match took place at the RCDE stadium, where the players made their entrance accompanied by the puppies, all looking for a home. This touching scene captured the hearts of the fans present and also generated great enthusiasm on social media.
In addition to the dog parade, Espanyol promoted collections of blankets, towels and pet foodinviting supporters to actively contribute. To encourage them, anyone who made a donation participated in one lottery with exclusive prizes up for grabs, including signed shirts, VIP experiences and guided stadium tours.
The campaign was made possible thanks to the support of the RCDE Foundation, the Penya Perica Happy Animals association and local shelters such as ADACC Cornellà and ASASF Barcellona. Additionally, companies like Affinity and Elanco have provided materials to support animals housed in shelters.
A particularly emotional moment was when Espanyol midfielder Pol Lozano shared his personal experience with a dog he adopted years ago. He stated:
Finding him and taking him with me was one of the best decisions of my life. Dogs sometimes show deeper feelings than people.
With this initiative, Espanyol demonstrates that football can be a powerful vehicle for solidarity and awareness. The hope is that this campaign will inspire other teams and institutions to follow suit to push more and more people to adopt abandoned dogs and cats.
