This is the error that everyone makes with electric ciabatta (risking a fire)

The multiple on the floor of the length of the pierces of thorns, the ciabatta under the desk feed computers, printer, charger and lamp, another one, hidden behind the television furniture, colleague decoder, console and soundbar. Family sounds, right? An often common situation, which perhaps hides precisely that cursed error sometimes fatal.

The cascade connection: the mortal trap

The most serious error consists in connecting multiple cobbles in series, creating what electricians call “cascade effect”. A ciabatta inserted in another, and perhaps a third connected to the second: apparently a practical solution, which allows us to reach every corner of the room, in essence a possible factor at a concrete fire risk.

When they connect more multiple in sequence, the first chain ciabatta must bear the electrical load of all the devices connected to the valley. Even if each single multi -pride respects the power limits, the first ring of the chain is subjected to excessive stress: the cable is overheated, the insulation can yield and the temperatures reached can trigger a combustion principle.

Beyond the overload

The fire can also occur with modest loads, because the real problem lies in bad internal contacts.
Loose terminals, or poor quality connections, can create localized resistance, which will generate heat due to the joule effect: the temperature could progressively rise up to carbonize plastic materials and trigger the flames.

Economic slippers are another risk factor. The products of dubious origin often have the CE or IEC safety certifications and are made with poor quality components. The most common problems? Interior contacts tend to deteriorate quickly, increasing electrical resistance and consequent heat development.

Prohibited appliances

Some appliances should never be connected to a ciabatta socket.
Electric stoves, air conditioners, microwave ovens and air fryers consume too much energy to be powered by multiplication: they are devices that require a direct connection to the wall socket.

Even the refrigerator, while consuming less than other appliances, should avoid ciabatta sockets: continuous operation, 24 hours a day, submits the multiples to a constant stress that, over time, can compromise its integrity.

How to recognize the danger

Alarm signals are evident for those who know what to look for. A ciabatta that burns to the touch, smell of burnt plastic, signs of blackening near tenders and cables with damaged isolation require immediate intervention, and the multipresses must be replaced without delay.

The position also plays an important role. The slippers must never be covered by rugs or curtains, nor positioned near heat sources such as radiators and stoves. The heat cannot be dissipated correctly and the risk of overheating increases exponentially.

The golden rules for safety

To use the multiplely safe, just follow some fundamental rules.

The definitive solution remains the installation of additional sockets where they need. A qualified electrician can evaluate the system and add additional power points, which will be safe, eliminating the need to resort to potentially dangerous provisional solutions.
