In Malaysia, the states of Kelantan and Terengganu were among the worst affected, with around 150,000 people forced to leave their homes and take refuge in temporary structures.
Torrential rainfall, equivalent to six months of rain concentrated in a few dayshave devastated homes, infrastructure and agricultural land. The Malaysian government, led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, has allocated huge resources to deal with the emergency and repair the damage, foreseeing further interventions in view of new monsoon rains. Meanwhile the rescuers they continue to work tirelesslyusing boats to distribute food and supplies to people trapped in their homes.
