Timothée Chalamet creates a sweatshirt for Afghan women’s rights together with designer Haider Ackermann

Timothée Chalamet he is not only a great actor, but has also demonstrated a profound sensitivity towards humanitarian issues. In collaboration with the Colombian designer Haider Ackermann, the protagonist of Dune has launched a charity sweatshirt the proceeds of which are entirely donated to Free Afghanistana non-governmental organization committed to defending the rights of women and children in Afghanistan.

The idea was born in August 2021, when Chalamet and Ackermann, shocked by the humanitarian crisis caused by the Taliban’s return to power, decided to create a leader who could concretely support the victims of this tragedy.

Chalamet explained on his social channels that the project represents a way to amplify voices of those who live in extremely difficult conditions. The sweatshirt, made of heavy cotton, is white with artistic details that reflect the message of the project.

There is a photograph that portrays the gaze of an Afghan child

It features splashes of blue paint on the front, along with a photograph depicting the intense gaze of an Afghan child. The writing “Silent Soldier” (Silent Soldier) stands out in green on the top, accompanied by the logo “HA+TC A Common Thread”which symbolizes the union between the designer and the actor. Available at a price of 175 euros, the garment is a visual and symbolic tribute to those who continue to fight for their rights in silence.

The choice to support Afghanistan Libre is not random: the organization, based in Paris, is dedicated to protect women and childrenproviding essential education and support in a context where freedom and access to fundamental rights are increasingly denied.

The partnership between Chalamet and Ackermann goes beyond simple stylistic collaboration. The actor has often worn the designer’s creationsconsolidating a relationship of friendship and mutual respect. With this sweatshirt the two want to demonstrate that even a simple item of clothing can become a means of making a difference, raising awareness in the world about the suffering of a population that is too forgotten.
