Two earthquakes in Emilia-Romagna, the strongest of magnitude 4.3: people in the streets and temporary stoppage of trains

The earth trembles in Emilia-Romagna. This morning two earthquakes were recorded between 9.27 and 9.29: the strongest shock, of magnitude 4.3, occurred south-west of Russi, in the Ravenna area, at a depth of 23 km; while the second, of magnitude 4.1, had Faenza as its epicenter and occurred approximately 8 km east of Faenza, at a depth of 22 km, as detected by the INGV.

The two tremors were clearly felt by the population in nearby cities, from Ravenna to Imola. Several people took to the streets after homes and offices in fear after feeling the undulating motion of the tremors. And in some schools in Cesena the pupils and staff were evacuated.

The Civil Protection has announced that no damage has been reported at the moment, but railway traffic has been temporarily suspended for technical checks on the Bologna-Rimini line, the Ferrara-Rimini line, the Castelbolognese-Ravenna and Faenza-Ravenna sections.
