An extraordinary opportunity presents themselves for those who dream of living a voluntary experience immersed in the most uncontaminated nature on the planet. The Marine Conservation Society Seychelles, in collaboration with Nature Seychelles, launches a appeal to recruit a limited number of volunteers intended for monitoring sea turtles on the island of Cousin, considered one of the most crucial nesting sites in the world for the Hawksbill species.
A project that makes the difference
This initiative goes far beyond the concept of simple journey: it represents a concrete opportunity to become active protagonists in the protection of marine biodiversity, in a historical moment in which marine ecosystems face unprecedented challenges due to climate change and anthropic pressures. The conservation of sea turtles does not only mean protecting a single species, but preserving the balance of the entire coastal ecosystem. The constant commitment of the volunteers allows this project to continue its fundamental monitoring and conservation mission, actively contributing to the survival of a species that represents a living symbol of the tropical oceans.

Program details
The volunteer program will develop in the period between October 2025 and April 2026, offering different participation options through three-month stays with flexible temporal slots: October-December, November-Genoa, December-February, February-April. This structuring allows volunteers to choose the most suitable period for their needs, while guaranteeing continuous coverage during the entire nesting season.
Who can apply
The selection is reserved for candidates with specific characteristics. It is essential to have previous experience in monitoring sea turtles, be in excellent physical shape and used to long walks on sandy beaches under the tropical sun. Flexibility represents an essential quality, considering the need to adapt to isolated living conditions and variable work rhythms dictated by the natural behaviors of the animals.
A good level of English is essential for communication with the international team, while the availability of valid travel insurance is a mandatory requirement.
Among the plus that can make the difference in the selection, there are a training in marine biology or similar disciplines, specific experience in tropical marine conservation and skills in the collection and analysis of scientific data.
Daily activities
The volunteer routine provides for daily participation in the patrols of the beaches, activities that take place both at the first light of dawn and in the evening hours, to accurately document the moments of nesting of the turtles. During these monitoring, the volunteers deal with the systematic collection of data on the field, which are subsequently processed and entered in the scientific databases once returned to the operational base.
The free hours offer the opportunity to relax and discover the natural wonders of the archipelago. The accommodation is provided in dormitories shared with cuisine and common services, while meals are not included in the program, allowing participants to manage the culinary aspect of their experience independently.
Participating in this project means offering a tangible and measurable contribution to the protection of sea turtles, a species currently classified as critically threatened by international red lists. The volunteers have become part of an active scientific program since 1970, recognized as one of the longest and most reliable in the world in the field of marine conservation, with an internationally consolidated prestige.
The experience represents a precious opportunity to acquire practical skills in a rigorous scientific context, working side by side with researchers and marine biologists of proven experience. Everything takes place in the incredible natural scenery of the Seychelles, where for three months the volunteers will live completely immersed in the most authentic nature: uncontamin beaches, coral pristine barriers, rare endemic fauna and preserved wild environments.
How to apply
Those interested in this extraordinary opportunity can send their candidacy via email to science@natureseychelles.org, attaching the required documentation: a detailed motivational letter, the updated curriculum vitae and a recent pass.
The selection process provides that only candidates who exceed the first evaluation phase are contacted. After the formation of the shortlist, it will also be necessary to provide a copy of the travel insurance valid for the period of stay.
