Light and fruit icing? Not really, the new Italian test analyzed 25 (and nobody really convinces)

In summer, what’s better than an icebox To cool off? Practical, “fruit” and greedy, seem ideal to combat the heat. But are we really sure they are as healthy or harmless how do we imagine them? Altroconsumo He conducted a test on packaged glaciers (in addition to many other types of ice cream that we will talk about later), to understand what they really contain.

For this purpose, ingredients, nutritional values and additives have been analyzed in the composition of 25 iceboards, attributing an overall score based on the quality of the ingredients.

The result? Some iceboats may contain added sugars in high quantities, dyes and artificial aromas. Let’s find out the ranking immediately, where – we anticipate it – no glazing shines by composition and quality.

The ranking of ice

No product achieves the desired results: practically everyone is placed in the “acceptable” band (40-59 points) and nobody touches the “good” or “very good” judgment.

Because glaciers do not convince

Despite having few calories (on average around 37-50 kcal per portion), the iceboats have a high sugar content, which penalizes the score according to the nourish-score adopted by Altroconsumo. To this is added the presence of additives and dyes, many of which are classified as “tolerable” or “not very recommendable” in the safety database of food additives.

In addition, the degree of transformation is quite high, ingredients as glucose and maltodextrine ingredients are frequent. Finally, the use of sweeteners, if present, is also considered negatively for the potential impact on health and the habit of sweet taste.

How the test was conducted

The test of Altroconsumo It is based on an algorithm that evaluates packaged ice creams considering more fundamental aspects:

The products analyzed were purchased in supermarkets and discount stores in May 2025.
