The headphones are not immortal
Wireless headphones now all have them. Comfortable, small, wireless and apparently indestructible. But no, I’m not at all. And do you know what is the absurd thing? That the main problem is not the product, but the user.
The headphones stop working because of you. There is a trivial error that almost everyone makes, always the same, and then the complaints like “eh but after six months they no longer feel good” or “a cap has gone out and does not recharge”.
The case used as a pocket
The problem is born from there: the charging case. People treat him as if they were a storage. They throw us into the dirty headphones, perhaps still wet of sweat after the corset or worse, full of earwax. The case, on the other hand, is a delicate electronic piece. Inside there are the charging pins, magnetic contacts, and if they get dirty or oxidized, bye bye cuffs. But people don’t think about it. They put and remove the headphones, crush, press, and then they are surprised if they no longer load or disconnect on their own.
The contact is gone and the battery dies
When the contacts stop adhere well – maybe because they are full of dust or fat – the recharge does not start. Or it starts badly. And the batteries of the headphones are completely discharged to zero. Now, few know it, but if a lithium ion battery is completely discharged and remains so for days, it is irreversible in an irreversible way. It no longer recovers. This is also well explained by the Battery University, which is a source of reference for everything related to batteries and charging cycles. A battery to zero for too long = certain death.
They must be clean
You don’t need to be technical, just a minimum of common sense. Take a cotton swab, a microfiber cloth,
-
Micellar water that includes peg-6 caprilic glycerides/caprics, for example biode or neutrogenic
-
Distilled water
-
A teeth toothbrush with soft bristles
-
Two small cups
-
A paper napkin
And keep both the case and the headphones clean. Otherwise you find yourself spending another 150 euros for another pair of AirPods because “these no longer go”.
Apple also said it in its official support: keeping contacts clean is essential to ensure effective charging.
It’s not broken, it’s just you who don’t take care of it
The truth is that wireless headphones work very well if you take them well. But if you behave as if they were indestructible, if you mistreat them, if you leave them on the bag to be crushed by a half kilo powerbank or if you forget them under the sun in the car, it is normal that sooner or later they will no longer work. And it’s not the fault of the brand, nor a bug in Bluetooth. It’s you.
Do you want your headphones to last? Treat them properly. Clean them, do not download them to zero, and do not use the case as if it were an ashtray.
