The snacks are a classic and fast snack, designed in particular for the little ones. The investigation examined very popular products such as Pangoccioli, Plumcake, Brioche, Krafen and Muffin, all united by the presence of chocolate in various forms.

Methodology and evaluation parameters

The laboratory in charge concentrated the analyzes on the search for pesticides and mycotoxins. The evaluation also considered the ingredients and nutritional values declared on the packaging.

The judgment criteria have been divided as follows:

Pesticides: a disturbing presence

The analyzes highlighted traces of phytopharmacies in different samples. The concentrations detected remain under the analytical quantification threshold, even if the only presence remains a significant fact.

Among the identified substances there is chlorpirifos, a pesticide with neurotoxic effects particularly dangerous for children, present in minimal quantities. The analyzes also identified Fipronil and Acetamiprid, classified as high -risk active ingredients.

The products with the most negative results contained traces of 4 or 5 different pesticides. This aspect raises serious concerns about the so -called “cocktail effect”, whose risks are still the subject of study.

Mycotoxins: situation under control

On the mycotoxins front, more reassuring news emerges. No sample showed Don. The sum of the HT2 and T2 mycotoxins, particularly dangerous and monitored by the EU in children’s foods up to 3 years, remains under control.

The lifeguard experts specify that all the products examined widely respect the most restrictive limit of 10 mcg/kg, although nobody is marketed as a food for children. The maximum values of the sum of the two mycotoxins slightly exceed 2 mcg/kg, thus remaining well below the legal limits. Some samples showed Zearalenone’s presence in reduced concentrations, difficult to evaluate for the absence of a specific regulatory limit.

Suggles: Confirm the concerns

The test confirmed the excess of sugars in these products. The content varies from 6.3 to 13 grams per single snack. Some products exceed 50% of the daily quantity suggested by WHO, set at 27 grams for children over 7 years.

Problematic ingredients

The evaluation penalized the products containing:

All ingredients considered negatively for potential health effects.
