Do you know how many (and what) bacteria are on your smartphone? You will no longer watch it in the same way after seeing this video

We live immersed in a world full of bacteria, they are found on our skin, on clothes, in the objects that we touch every day. Although often we don’t realize, many of these microorganisms accompany us constantly. Among the most “populated” objects there is the smartphone, one of the devices we use most frequently and that we always bring with us. Its surface thus becomes, now after now, a small ecosystem of bacteria, invisible to the naked but clearly evident if observed under the microscope.

To show this hidden world, Doctor Microscope, Italian Creators on Tiktok, known for his educational videos in which he puts under the lens of everyday use, foods and surfaces to reveal bacteria and other microorganisms, thought about it. In one of his most recent videos he showed what he lurks on the smartphone screen, using methylene blue to make the bacteria more obvious.

The most common bacteria on our phones

The most frequent microorganisms that we can find on smartphones belong to the cocci family: single cocci, diplococci and streptococci. These bacteria are part of the bacterial flora normally present on our skin. As the expert explains, in most cases they are harmless, but in some circumstances – for example in the presence of small wounds or in immunosuppressed subjects – they can give rise to more serious infections.

But how do they arrive there? Whenever we touch the screen with our hands, even as soon as you just washed, we transfer bacteria from the skin. And if the smartphone passes from hand in hand or is placed on dirty surfaces, the number and variety of bacteria increases quickly. It is therefore easy to understand why smartphones are among the most contaminated objects we have.

What to do to limit bacteria

Clean the phone regularly with specific alcohol -based products, avoid placing it on potentially dirty surfaces and washing your hands before and after use they are small tricks that significantly reduce the presence of bacteria.
