Bambi died, the deer that in recent years had become a real celebrity in Valmalenco and beyond. Its history, which began as a fairy tale, excited the whole of Italy and has turned into an example of love for nature and collective mobilization.
Bambi had been found by Giovanni Del Zoppo when he was still a puppy, lost in the woods of the province of Sondrio. Welcomed and raised as part of the family, the animal soon became the symbol of a special bond between man and nature. However, his events were not always simple: at a certain point, for bureaucratic reasons, he was transferred to a structure intended for deer that could no longer be freed in nature.
The mobilization of the community
The Valmalenco community did not agree to see the deer removed from those who had saved him. Thus was born a real civil battle: associations, citizens and volunteers mobilized to build an ad hoc fence, a protected area that would allow Bambi to return to live next to the lame family. From this initiative the Eco -Faunistic Oasis Valmalenco – Bambbi’s house, a place that today hosts several animals and which represents a heritage for the whole territory, came to life.
A symbol for young and old
In recent years, Bambi had conquered visitors from all over Italy. Many children and families went to the oasis to know him and to learn, through his history, the value of respect for the environment. The deer had become an ambassador of nature, an example of how collective commitment can transform a difficult destiny into a second possibility.
The last farewell
Unfortunately, after weeks of illness and despite the care dedicated by Giovanni Del Zoppo, his family and volunteers, Bambi has passed away. Valmalenco’s eco -fetal greeted him with a moved message on social media, thanking him for what he represented and underlining how his spirit will continue to live within the Oasis. These are the words to say goodbye to Bambi:
It is with profound sadness that today we gave the last farewell to our beloved Bambi. In recent weeks, the association, but above all Giovanni Del Zoppo and Barbara Del Zoppo, have done everything possible to guarantee him the necessary treatments, assisting him with love and dedication to the last. Unfortunately, despite every effort, his health has worsened day by day. However, we want to thank Bambi from heart, because it is also thanks to him if today we can enjoy this beautiful eco -fetal oasis. It is his spirit that allows children and adults to admire animals up close and learn many precious things about nature. His memory will live here, in the heart of the Valmalenco Eco -Faunistic Oasis – Bambi’s house thanks, Bambi, for everything you have given us. Hi, dear friend.
