To reverse the trend, the Region has put on the table bonuses of up to 15,000 euros for those who buy and renovate a house in the most isolated villages and up to 20,000 euros for those who choose to start a local business.
The objective is clear: to bring forgotten villages back to life, bringing back families, businesses and new residents where for years only the wind has been heard in the streets. A strategy that combines economic incentives and valorization of the territory, trying to combine quality of life and demographic revival.
Bonus for those who stay, grow and build
It is not just a financial contribution to buy a house: the plan also includes bonuses for births. Anyone who has a first child in Sardinia will receive 600 euros per year until the child is five years old, with an additional 400 euros for each subsequent child. A measure designed to support families and encourage those who want to build their future on the island.
Obviously there are conditions: new arrivals must choose municipalities with fewer than 3,000 inhabitants and establish their permanent residence within 18 months. In short, no shortcuts or paid holidays: Sardinia wants new real citizens, not passing tourists.
Houses for one euro, dream or challenge?
For those who dream of a refuge in the middle of the Mediterranean, the island also offers another opportunity: houses starting from one euro. A bargain, at least on paper, because most of these properties require complete renovations, in some cases without even the roof.
