Kitt Bennett, the street artist who paints huge “animated” murals directly on the asphalt

There are now murals painted on city walls everywhere, but the one created by street artist Kitt Bennett is truly one of a kind. Bennett doesn’t limit himself to walls, but paints asphalt, transforming common urban spaces into true works of art.

An example is “Go to Bed“, created in Victoria, Australia. The mural portrays a boy lying on the asphalt, perhaps asleep or collapsed after a fall. The work, placed in a car park, takes on a surprising effect: while walking on it, the subject seems enormous and almost unrecognizable, but when observed from above thanks to the photographs, the proportions and perspective make the figure appear smaller.

Bennett manages to bring these images to life thanks to his skills in 2D animation and comics, which he combines with urban painting to create unique depth effects. But “Go to Bed” is not the only example: the artist loves to paint parking lots, roofs and bridges, exploiting unusual perspectives to transform everyday life into something extraordinary.
