Twelve euros out of every hundred remain the responsibility of those who have installed a wallbox at home, the rest, up to a ceiling of 1,500 euros, is paid by the State. From today, Tuesday 22 September, at 12:00 sharp, the window to request the contribution opens.
What is the domestic charging station bonus
The measure returns with a new annuality and concerns anyone who installs a charging point for an electric car at home or in the common areas of a condominium. It is managed by Invitalia, the National Agency for attracting investments, on behalf of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy: the rules were established with a directorial decree signed on 4 August following the indication of Minister Adolfo Urso. The contribution covers 80% of the costs incurred to purchase and install the infrastructure, including the electrical systems, the necessary construction works and the costs of connecting to the grid via a new POD. The maximum ceiling is 1,500 euros for natural persons, which rises to 8,000 euros when the intervention concerns the common parts of a condominium building.
Who can request it
Natural persons resident in Italy and condominiums can apply if the column is installed in common areas pursuant to articles 1117 and 1117-bis of the Civil Code. VAT numbers and companies are excluded, for businesses and public administration, explains Mimit, other forms of support are provided within the PNRR, managed by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security. A point that often generates confusion: the bonus is not requested before the purchase, the expense must have already been incurred and the infrastructure must be installed, complete with a declaration of conformity issued by the installer. For 2026, installations completed between June 26 and December 31 are eligible.
How the question works
The request must be submitted exclusively online, on the Invitalia platform, with access via SPID, CIE or CNS. Each beneficiary can submit only one application; if it is declared inadmissible due to a formal error, the legislation allows a second one to be submitted by 31 January 2027, the date on which the office closes. The documents requested include the tax code and the identity document of the applicant (or, for condominiums, of the administrator and the meeting resolution authorizing the works), electronic invoices in The details of the current account to which the credit will be received must also be indicated. The admitted charging stations must be new from the factory, of standard power and intended for exclusively private use, therefore they cannot and must not be accessible to the public. To be eligible, the expenditure must not have already benefited from other incentives.
Questions in order of arrival
Resources are limited and requests are admitted to the investigation according to the chronological order of presentation: whoever completes the procedure first has, given the same requirements, a greater chance of falling within the available limit before the funds run out. At the end of the compilation, the system issues a registration receipt, and the status of the application remains available for consultation in the reserved area of the platform.
