Father and son save a Caretta caretta turtle trapped between algae and plastic: the gesture excites everyone

On a wild cove of Capo Pecora, in the Arbus territory in Sardinia, Max and his son Leo found a caretta caretta turtle trapped among the algae accumulated by the current, unable to move and visibly in difficulty. One of its fins was held tight by a line connected to plastic bins, a tangle of waste that threatened to turn into a deadly trap.

Max and Leo, calmly and carefully, dedicated several minutes to freeing the turtle, patiently untying what was keeping it immobilized. Once she was safe, they picked her up and transported her to a more accessible cove, where it was possible to allow her to return to the sea without further risk.

Not being able to contact the competent authorities due to the absence of a telephone line and considering the distances and the inaccessible nature of the place, Max chose to act immediately, allowing the turtle to return to sea in the shortest time possible. A decision taken with common sense, guided by urgency and the desire to avoid further suffering.

A video to raise awareness

The moment of liberation was documented and shared on the @leolegno.creazioni account, usually dedicated to creative content. This time, however, the profile chose to leave its usual context to tell a real experience, full of emotion and meaning. The video not only shows the rescue, but also has the intention of sending a clear message: to educate about respect for the environment, starting from adults and moving down to the little ones.

At the basis of sharing there is a precise objective: to promote greater environmental awareness. The presence of ropes, plastic and abandoned materials at sea represents a real threat to many species. The caretta caretta, renamed Ninetta, is just one of the many animals that end up victims of marine pollution every year. In this case, his condition was not serious and immediate intervention made the difference.
