The entrance is a bit like the Ugly Duckling of the house: if the living room, kitchen and bedroom are taken care of down to the smallest detail, the same cannot be said of this more or less large room (or corridor), which we use as a a closet. Wouldn’t it be more pleasant to open the door and find yourself in front of a welcoming and well-furnished entrance? Beauty works miracles!
If we have convinced you to reconsider its importance, here are some DIY ideas that will allow you at (almost) zero cost to make it so cute that all you need to do is enter your home and look at it to regain your good mood.
Shelf with drawer
An old drawer can be painted and transformed into an entryway shelf. Get some shelf brackets, attach them to the wall and place the drawer on them. The idea is simple and cute.
Coat hanger with branch
What would an entrance be like without coat hanger? You don’t need to buy it, you can even make it with a simple branch. Before fixing it on the wall, add some hooks at regular distances from each other.
Coat hanger with old knobs
You can do the same thing by recycling knobs of various shapes: recover some and attach them to a long, thin wooden board. Then screw it to the wall.
Clothes rack with old door
If you have an old door, don’t throw it away! First sand it down, choose a paint in your favorite color and get to work.
Attach some clothes hooks to the door, add a shelf or a cabinet of the same width, painting it the same color.
Cabinet with painted fruit crates
Do you know the wooden fruit boxes? If you have some aside, we recommend sanding them down, painting them one or more colors (first choosing a color palette suited to your entrance) and overlapping them and placing them next to each other. Depending on how many you have, you will be able to create a more or less extensive wall cabinet.
Shelves with old chairs
A few shelves never hurt in the entrance and the nice thing is that you can make them with recycled materials of all kinds, including old chairs. Recover the backrests, sand them, paint them and fix a small custom-made coat hanger under each of them, which you can have a carpenter make.
