From 8 September, the Rai 2 mornings will color nostalgia and adventure with the airing of Ufo Robot Goldrake, the series that in the seventies opened the doors of Japanese animation to the Italian public. The episodes will air from Monday to Friday at 8:00 am, while on the weekend double happiness since two consecutive episodes will be broadcast. A fixed appointment for those who have loved Actarus and for those who want to know him for the first time.
A series that made history
Goldrake arrived in Italy in 1978, becoming a mass phenomenon. It was the first Japanese anime to be transmitted on our networks, and was not welcomed without controversy: for some too violent, for others revolutionary, he still conquered millions of viewers and launched a trend that would bring in Italy dozens of other Japanese productions. With its debut, an era opened in which the giant robots and the values of sacrifice and friendship entered the collective imagination.
Goldrake restored for a new generation
Rai will broadcast all 74 episodes of the series, presented in a restored version, with renewed audio and videos, without forgetting the original Italian titles. This choice aims to respect the historical memory of the first transmission, however giving the public a modern visual experience. It is highly likely that the episodes will also be available on Raiplay, so as to reach an even wider audience.
A hero who came from the stars
The protagonist of the series is Prince Duke Fleed, known in Italy as ACTARUS, who escaped by the planet Fleed after the attack of the Vega King, an ex -ally that has become an enemy. With the help of the gigantic robot Grendizer – renamed by us Goldrake – the young man finds refuge on Earth, where he becomes his defender against the alien invasions. An adventurous plot and full of meanings that, after almost fifty years, retains its narrative strength intact.
From anime to myth
Created by Go Nagai, already the author of Mazinga And DevilmanGoldrake was not only a cartoon: it became a generational symbol. His return to Rai 2, after the recent success of Goldrake uconfirms how much this saga continues to speak to different publics, binding past and present.
