I’ll explain how to grow a mango tree starting from the fruit

Growing a mango tree from the fruit It may seem like a complex task, but with the right instructions it is a fun and rewarding process. Here is a detailed guide to growing mango directly from the seed.

To begin with, take the ripe fruit and remove the pulp around the seed. Use a spoon to clean it carefully, so that no residue remains. Subsequently, carefully cut the outer shell along its sidefollowing the line of a small groove that you will find. It is important to be very careful during this phase, so as not to cut deeply or injure yourself, but also to avoid damaging the seed inside.

Once the shell is removed, you will see the actual seedwhich may already have a little peel. If the peel appears partially detached, you can peel it completely; otherwise, you can leave it as is. This seed, which almost resembles a small fetus due to its shape, then goes prepared for germination.

Time to transfer it to a vase

To make the seed germinate, wrap it in a damp cloth and place it in a box that has some small holes for air circulation. Place the box in a bright environment but without direct exposure to the sun. It’s important keep the cloth damp spraying water every two days, both on the cloth and on the walls of the box. After about a week the seed it should start to sproutalthough it may take up to 20 days in some cases.

When the seed has sprouted, transfer it to a pot. The seed must be planted in a vertical position, without burying it completely. Use a vase of approximately 20 cm in diameter and fill it with quality soil mixed with compost. At the bottom of the pot, place a layer of drainage material, such as expanded clay, to help drain the water.

Spray plenty of water and cover the pot with a plastic bag to maintain humiditycontinuing to spray water on the walls of the bag as well. Place the pot in a sunny location, but be careful not to expose the plant to direct sunlight during periods of high heat.

The mango plant will grow quickly, and when the plastic bag starts to touch it, you can use wooden chopsticks to create a kind of small greenhouse, which will help the development of the plant. Try growing your own mango tree too!
