In a few hours we will raise our eyes to the sky towards the shooting stars, let’s prepare our wishes!

In a few hours we will raise our eyes to the sky: in the night in which we remember our own dear deceased we could in fact express some wishes at the passage of Southern Tauridssplendid shooting stars which will reach their peak in the late evening between November 2nd and 3rd.

As the UAI explains, the Taurids they are a very complex meteoric current, probably originating largely from residues of the comet Enckemixed with asteroid fragments. The radiant area (i.e. the one from which the meteors appear to depart) is actually quite widespread, but certainly composed of two componentsrespectively north and south of the ecliptic, about 12 degrees apart in declination.

The one we observe tomorrow night, between November 2nd and 3rd, is the southern one (while the northern one is expected on the 12th of the month. The observation this year will be more favorable precisely for the southern Taurids, given the absence of lunar disturbance (on the map the sky of November 2, 2024 at approximately 11.50 pm).

The radiant of the swarm will also be observable throughout the night from the end of twilightculminating around 1.00 am at over 60° altitude and the greatest number of meteors is expected during the night hours.

Are your wishes ready?
